Deadline to Register to Vote, Apply for Mail Ballot & Early Voting for the April 2, 2024 Presidential Preference Primary 

MARCH 3, 2024 is the deadline to register to vote in order to be eligible to vote in the General Election. [RIGL 17-1-3, 17-1-7, 17-9.1-3]

You can now register to vote and update your voter information, such as your party affiliation, on the Secretary of State’s website at https://vote.sos.ri.gov/  

Alternatively, the Cumberland Police Department at 1379 Diamond Hill Road will be also receiving final voter registrations on Sunday, MARCH 3, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  

MARCH 12, 2024 at 4:00p.m. is the deadline for voters to apply for a mail ballot. [RIGL 17-20-2.1]. You can now apply for a mail ballot online at mailballot.sos.ri.gov.

MARCH 12, 2024 - The Board of Canvassers will meet for the purpose of final canvassing and correcting the voting list. [RIGL 17-10-5]

MARCH 13- APRIL 1, 2024 – Early voting period begins at Cumberland Town Hall, 45 Broad Street, Town Council Chambers, 2nd Floor. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.  Hours on 

March 29 (Good Friday) are 8:30 a.m. to Noon and on April 1 are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.   [RIGL 17-20-2.2(g)]

Temporary Polling Locations for April 2, 2024

Some polling locations have been consolidated for the April 2, 2024 Election.  Polls will be open from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.  These polling place changes are for the PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARY ONLY.

Register to Vote

To register to vote you must a legal resident of Rhode Island, a citizen of the United States and at least 16 years of age. You must be at least 18 years of age to vote on Election Day.

If you are registering to vote for the first time in Rhode Island by mail or if someone else turns this form in for you, it is required that you provide your driver’s license number or state ID number issued by the Rhode Island Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). If you do not have either, you must provide the last 4 digits of your Social Security.
